I was coming home from my tution today when it happened again.
That man standing near the auto stand came following me. I swear I'm going to
tell mother the next time it happens. He does nothing more than passing
comments behind me. I hope no one heard what he had whispered to me today. For
if they heard they'll think me to be "that kind" of a girl. I
shouldn't have worn jeans to my tution. My mother was right. It must have
made me look like a "slut". That's probably why this man followed me
with his dirty remarks on how my legs looked. Thank God I didn't get raped.
I'll be more careful from tomorrow. I'll wear more "decent"
clothes than jeans and tshirt which covers all but my hands and feet. But then
again I wore my new Salwar suit with the heavy embroidered dupatta yesterday
when that bald man in the city bus groped me. And didn't I wear a Salwar when
Gupta sir slipped his hands on my thighs in the class. And that day of puja at
shilpi's place, I was wearing mom's favorite blue silk saree when her uncle
held me by my waist. Thankfully the door wasn't closed well and shilpi came
finding me. I don't think I'm learning enough to be a "good" girl.
Mother says I've already grown up to do things on my own. I shall still try to learn
things from her before I turn 15 next month. So that I look like a
"good" girl and that man at the auto stand stops following me
everyday.
